Serpentine Ecology and History Hike

Serpentine grasslands are rare and beautiful ecosystems filled with unique plants, ancient geology, and centuries of fascinating history. Join a naturalist on a hike through the amazing Serpentine grasslands of Soldiers Delight as we examine what makes this ecosystem so unique! We’ll learn about how people have used these lands over thousands of years, what threats the grasslands face and how you can help! Hike will include a moderately challenging trail with sloping, uneven terrain and areas of direct sun. Limited to 15 participants. This program will be cancelled in the event of rain/snow or temperatures below freezing. Sign up encouraged. Groups larger than 5 must sign up in advance.
