Mining History Hike

When: October 28, 2018
  2:00 pm Sunday
Where: Soldiers Delight NEA
How Much: FREE, Donations welcome!

Join Volunteer Ranger and mining historian Johnny Johnsson on a short hike to the historic Choate chromium mine. Learn about mining at Soldiers Delight while using historic methods to pan and buddle chrome sands (similar to panning for gold). The history of mining at Soldiers Delight will be supplemented by a demonstration of mining artifacts. This program is a great family program for ages 10 and up; parents are welcome. Those who can only walk a short distance can drive part of the way, park, and then take a short walk over uneven terrain to the Choate Mine entrance where most of the program is conducted. Please call 410-833-5508 in advance to register or to obtain more information. Only offered twice a year!
